Today Norma Nardi, our book designer (Visuality), and editor Jeroen Blijsie had a meeting on the progress of design. Here you see a screen shot of or meeting with a sneak peek on the internal design of the book.
We recently finalised the basic layout template in which every chapter will be designed. One important aspect is that, although this book will contain quite an amount of text, on every page there will be a drawing or a photograph.
And concerning the content: almost halfway copy editing! Soon we will share more details on the progress of the stages which every chapter will go through: from first draft text to final design!
It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us, we know, but we have been thinking of you! Here we are with another update from the editorial team to address your most pressing questions about the project, and share some very exciting news.
When will the book be published?
We know this is something that you very much want to know. And yes, we hoped to give birth to the book this year. Creating a book with more than 50 co-authors and 80 chapters is quite a journey. Along the way things happen that speed up or slow down the process. We also discovered that delivering deep quality in the writing and design takes time. And we have chosen to deliver a book of which we can be 100% proud and one that makes our readers 100% happy. To give us time to meet those goals, we expect to publish the book in the spring of 2019.
Exciting News! Please welcome our new co-editor Jill!
We are thrilled to let you know that co-author Jill Greenbaum will assist us in co-editing chapters that are still waiting to be reviewed and processed towards copy edit and design. We are so excited to have her join the team. She will be reaching out to co-authors who are still waiting for the review process, so if you are one of those, please keep an eye out for a message from her. Welcome, Jill, and thank you!
A field story from Shanghai
At the latest IFVP conference in Denmark, we met Phil Guo from Shanghai. As a consultant working at Deloitte, he has experience with doing digital graphic recording live on TV. Phil is currently writing a short story on this topic, which we will include in the Visual and Virtual section of the book. We are delighted to have the chance to include another field story, especially in such a popular topic area.
Book sales continue
After the successful Kickstarter campaign (where a total of 750 copies were reserved by backers!), we made pre-orders available on the book web site. Here you can order the hard copy as well as the e-book format. You can help spread the word by referring people to the online shop at https://thevisualfacilitationfieldguide.com/pre-order-the-book
Thank you again for your great support and we will keep you posted! We wish you peace and happiness in the coming year, and we will be in touch as things progress.
The co-editors Jeroen, Rachel, Tim, and Jill
Read the blog they wrote about the book sprint, which partially took place in their offices.
We’ve been given an unexpected opportunity.
The original pre-sales start date has been changed from April 24th to the 30th. The reason is that the project must first go into review by the Kickstarter team, a critical step we somehow overlooked.
This gives us an unexpected opportunity to go over the Kickstarter site once more, and make sure everything is as it should be.
In the meantime, we will continue the process of editing, designing and preparing the book featuring the stories, tools and frameworks of our 50+ co-authors.
If you want to receive a pre-sales alert, just leave your details on the home page and we’ll be in touch!
